Skincare Journey Ep.1 – #KnowMyStory
I realized that after sharing so many tips and tricks about skincare, it’s time for you to hear my personal story. Welcome to the first episode of my #KnowMyStory series, where I’ll share what my skin has been through over the years.
Teen Years: A Tough Start
Entering my teenage years was challenging. Stress, breakdowns, and a busy lifestyle all contributed to inevitable acne. My worst breakout happened in 9th grade—it was intense and, honestly, quite overwhelming. As someone striving for confidence, I knew I had to take control of my skin.
My Skincare Hacks
1. Research the right ingredients
Before buying every product I thought might work, I did my homework. Knowing your skin type is key! For my dry skin, I focused on products with hyaluronic acid, shea butter, and aloe vera to hydrate and restore my skin.
2. Live healthy
Acne isn’t just about sweat or external factors—it’s also linked to lifestyle. I made sure to eat well, drink enough water, and get proper sleep. Even when life got stressful, taking care of myself internally helped my skin recover faster.
3. Stay consistent
Skincare works best when done every morning and night. Following the right routine, applying products gently, and being consistent over time made a huge difference in keeping my skin clear and glowing.
4. Hands off acne!
Never pick or scratch pimples or rough patches like chicken skin. Touching acne only worsens it and can lead to scarring. Patience is key.
5. Always use sunscreen
Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is essential to prevent acne flare-ups and premature aging. My go-to? The GWTG Sun Stick. It feels light, moisturizes, protects with SPF 50++, and keeps my skin safe without causing breakouts.
These steps might seem simple or even cliché, but they’ve been life-changing for me. Eliminating acne wasn’t easy, and bad skin days still happen—but that’s normal. With persistence, research, and the right products, your skin can improve too.
Remember: you’ve got this, girl! Go with the glow!
